busy, busy, busy!

Ohhhkay. So last weekend was a hectic one for me. Saturday I made my way into the City to do a shoot with a photographer for BlackMilk Clothing. It was such a great day and I am super happy with the photos I've seen so far! We're hoping to send the finished photos to BlackMilk and fingers crossed they'll feature on the website!
We started off with a more natural and bright look on a City roof top and ended up in the streets infront of street art walls. Was alot of fun and I am doing another shoot with Ash in September for more BlackMilk clothing! Exciting!

On Sunday I was off to Baulkham Hills as MUA for a short film/photoshoot. It was a different experience but i found myself sitting around far too much as there wasn't alot to do once the makeup was finished.
I haven't got any photos back yet, but i took a sneaky BTS shot on Instagram. (speaking of which, go follow me!; alistadler)
This week in college we have been doing era makeup. Monday we did brow covering, Tuesday we did an Egyptian look and Yesterday we did a Restoration/Victorian look.
It's hilarious covering brows and I had alot of fun sending pictures to friends and creeping them out! :)
I have two other shoots booked in for later in the month and hopefully more to come! Things are looking very good for me right now and I couldn't be much happier :) x

OH! I forgot to upload some photos I got back from my end of semester one photoshoot. Wasn't as happy with them as I originally thought, but that's okay...It's all about finding where you went wrong or how you could have directed to Model or the Photographer differently.

I was going for a more high end, Russian Vogue look.

The photographer made it look very cold with blue hues and I found it really didn't do any favours to Terri's skin. Therefore I wanted to try a few warmer tones, so I edited the top photo myself. When I look at the photos now, I wish i had done the hair differently as from certain side angles, it really doesn't look how it was supposed to. Oh well, you live and learn.
For some odd reason I had to put black behind my text otherwise it was completely white out. Hmm...Anyone know why? It has done it a few times on here.

I'm Back!

So I haven't posted in a long time (Sorry Jenna, I know you've been checking!), but I'm back to fill you in on what's been going on!
So this week was my second week of semester two at college. I had such fun starting special effects and got some very worried looks on the train! We practised bruising alot and I think I have finally got the hang of using modelling wax to make cuts. This was a new thing for me because before the course, I use to only use latex to make wounds, which is very raised and needs alot of covering up and blood to hide the edges properly.

This week we started on theatre makeup - eg. fat and skinny and such. I found it to be rather calming at first as it reminded me alot of painting because there was so much line work and blending. I was really proud of my "skinny/sick" look, but once I tried to do that fat one and didn't succeed straight away, my patience ran out and I think I just went down from there. So I will practice that more on myself at home and try and perfect the art of making people fatter (which I'm sure nobody would truly want! Haha). I had taken some photos in class but they are on my friend's phone so I won't be able to upload it right now, but once i get the photo I'll edit it in here :)

Yesterday I woke up with a terrible cold, unable to go to college because 1) I felt terrible and 2) I didn't want to make everyone else sick considering we are so close to eachother's faces.
We were supposed to do a Ballerina look and then transform it into a more creative Black Swan kind of look. I think I'll just do this at home sometime too as I love the Black Swan makeup!
Today I am still too sick to go to class and I have no idea what I'm missing out on, but I really hate missing out on class! I was hoping for a sleep in this morning, but i was raked in to doing my little Sister's makeup for her dance concert today/tonight. I'm quite excited to go watch tonight, the High School actually have some really talented dancers, so it'll be a nice thing to watch.

I'm a busy girl this weekend and will have lots to update you on once I receive all the photos back. On Saturday I am off to the City to do a BlackMilk shoot on an apartment roof top. I'm really excited for this because I have complete creative freedom and I really love the look of BlackMilk Clothing (Far too over priced for me though! $75 for leggings? I think I'll stick to my amazing $8 thanks)

On Sunday I am off to Baulkham Hills to do makeup on two Male models and one Female model. This is for a short film/photoshoot in between and I'm excited to see how it all turns out. The photographer on the job is a-maaazing, so I can't wait to see how the photos go!

I think that's all I really have to talk about right now. I shall update you all after my hectic weekend.
xx

Bride from Costa Vakas on Vimeo.

Are you with the Bride, or the Groom?

This morning i woke up with a heavy cold, feeling like crap and decided my day already sucked. Then i checked my FB and saw that i was tagged in a post by a Director i worked with some time ago on a short film at Cockatoo Island. I was assisting my teacher, who was the MUA on the job, and it was the greatest experience. Filming is so different to just a photo shoot. They are constantly moving, playing music and re touching.

So the story behind this little video is something along the lines of -
Bride kills Groom. Bride feels guilt and sorrow and expresses this with dance. The guilt begins to take over - turning her into some sort of monster. The monster takes over. Things get freaky. The end.

Directed by Costa Vakas
MUA Chereine Waddel and Myself assisting
Dancer/Actor Deanna Beasom

I'm going to post the video in a separate post because this just isn't letting me put the video in for some reason!

Red Riding Hood

Today I did my first professional location job. I have mucked around with friends before and helped out on hair expos and such, but this was my first real job as a MUA for a photo shoot.

The theme was 'Red Riding Hood' and I had alot of fun assisting the photographer and directing the model, as well as doing the makeup (of course!).  The shoot was at Norman Lindsay Gallery in Faulconbridge and we just went from place to place finding interesting trees and leaves to shoot amongst.
I really love both of these images and I'm really excited to see the final shots.

The Photographer was after a specific look, so he sent me some reference pictures and I ended up deciding on a black smokey eye and red lips, as this was in the majority of the pictures he had sent and it went along with the theme well. I wanted to keep her skin flawless yet youthful looking, so i finished it off my one of my favourite products - M.A.C Fix + - which really gives that lovely glow and freshness to the skin, while setting the makeup.

All in all, it was a really good day and i got great feedback from both the Photographer and Model.

MUA : Myself
Photographer : Ray Baker
Model : Mena Kidd
